Initial Distribution of 40,000 Kisan Cards
On September 10, 2024, Punjab’s Chief Minister announced that the first phase of Kisan Card distribution has commenced. 40,000 cards will be given to farmers who have registered. Loans Through Kisan Cards
The Kisan Card also offers funding to farmers who run large-scale farming operations. Farmers can borrow anywhere between Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 150,000 per season, depending on the size of their land. Each farmer can earn up to Rs. 150,000 for five acres to help cover the costs of seeds, fertilizer, and other agricultural inputs. Approval of CM Agriculture Mall Project
In addition to the Kisan Card, the Punjab government has approved the Agricultural Mall Pilot Project for four districts: Okara, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, and Sargodha. Farmers will be able to get seeds, fertilizers, insecticides, and guidance at these malls. The plan would also train 1,000 agricultural graduates through an internship program and provide 10,000 tractors to farmers under the CM Green Tractor Scheme.
